The two important circumstantial factors of a great sound bath experience are the acoustic qualities of the space and sound projection qualities of the singing bowls.

We were driving through an extensive lava field in Iceland last year. I decided to lay out my Fullmoon singing bowl set to play on the lava field.

It was windy and there was nothing in sight except the simple road and the wavy terrain. What surprised me was the sounds that came from the bowls. The sounds were exceptionally crisp and reverberating with life as if they were running free in the field. I certainly didn’t expect good acoustic outcomes from such a windy open space.

This experience exactly echoes with what I’ve read before.

The sound is crisp and clear in a good space, but dull in a space that is loaded with heavy energies.

Likewise, through my work, I have noticed that it is the same with our personal energy fields. I’ve been playing the same Fullmoon Chakra singing bowl set for years. It is amazing how the same set of bowls sound differently when they’re played for different clients during Singing Bowl Therapy sessions. Young people, depressed people and suicidal people cause the bowls to sound differently. The same bowl may sound dull, muffled, frustrated, dark, angry, happy or vital, etc depending on the client’s conditions. I ever heard some very beautiful resonating sound from the exact same set of singing bowls. It was when I played for a pregnant lady. I guess it is the sound of pure love from the young one:)

If you have a singing bowl, do play it often and listen to your own sound. Namaste.
